From 1794 through 1873 the United States struck silver dollars that are highly collectible and trade individually on a coin-by-coin basis. Their values will vary greatly by the date, the mintmark and even the specific variety within a given year. Their value will also be very dependent on the grade and overall appearance of the coin. When purchasing early silver dollars, we highly recommend that you purchase coins that are certified by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
